Not every photographer is the right fit for every expecting mom, and honestly, that is a good thing. Maternity photos are personal. You are inviting someone into a season that already feels emotional, exciting, vulnerable, exhausting, and beautiful all at once. You deserve a photographer whose style, approach, and experience actually make you feel comfortable instead of stressed. So I thought it might be helpful to share a few things about the way I photograph maternity sessions here in Fort Worth and the surrounding areas, because if you read this and think, “Yes, this is exactly what I want,” then we will probably get along wonderfully.
If you are hoping for a completely hands-off experience where you have to figure out dresses, coordinate outfits for the family, scout locations, and stress over every little detail yourself, I may not be the best fit. One of the biggest reasons moms book with me is because I guide all of that for you. I help style the session, pull pieces from my client closet, coordinate everyone together, and choose locations based on lighting and season. Most expecting moms already have enough on their plates. I want this part to feel easy.
If you love heavily posed, super formal images where everyone stands perfectly still and smiles directly at the camera the entire session, my work may feel a little too natural for you. Of course we will get beautiful portraits where everyone looks amazing, but I am also paying attention to movement, connection, and the little in-between moments that make a gallery feel alive. The way your husband looks at you when you are not paying attention matters to me just as much as the posed portraits.

If the thought of Texas weather stresses you out, we may need to have a heart-to-heart. Outdoor maternity sessions in the Fort Worth area can mean wind, tall grass, warm evenings, unexpected dirt on the bottom of a dress, or humidity doing its thing. I promise I know how to work around it. Some of the most beautiful images happen when we stop trying to make everything look perfect and just let the session breathe a little.
If you are uncomfortable being photographed while pregnant, please know you are absolutely not alone, but I may actually be the perfect fit for you because this is something I hear constantly. Almost every mom walks into her session feeling nervous about her body, worried about posing, or unsure what to do with her hands. That is my job. I guide you the entire time so you never feel awkward or left guessing. You do not need modeling experience. You just need to show up.
If you are looking for someone to quickly snap a few photos and hand over unedited files, I am probably not your photographer. Editing is a huge part of my work and part of what makes my galleries feel polished and timeless. I carefully edit each image so your skin tones look beautiful, your gallery feels cohesive, and the final result looks finished instead of rushed. I care deeply about quality, and that takes time.
And finally, if you are the mom who keeps saying, “I just want photos of the kids,” I am gently going to push back a little. One day your children are going to want to see you in these memories too. They will want to remember the way you carried them before you ever met them. They will notice your hands on your belly, your smile, the excitement on your face, and the love that already existed before they arrived. Those photographs become more meaningful with every passing year.

So… are we a good fit? If you want a maternity session that feels warm, relaxed, beautifully guided, and full of genuine connection instead of pressure, I would love to photograph this season for you. Whether you are planning your first baby or adding another little one to the family, I am here to help make the experience feel simple, comfortable, and meaningful from beginning to end.
