Should you have your makeup done professionally just for pictures? Absolutely! Doing your makeup for photographs is nothing like doing your makeup for every day. Professional makeup is VITAL when doing a photo shoot. A-Pro MUA has the skills to know what products will work on camera to provide you with a flawless face. We, at Merle Norman Orange, want to ensure that you have all the proper information to make your photo session the best! When you look at pictures, your eye is immediately drawn straight to the face of the subject. Pictures last a lifetime so you want your face to look perfect.
1. Using top-quality products ensures lasting coverage to keep you looking your best even if you encounter lighting or weather issues.
2. It’s critical to go heavier than normal on makeup for photos, even if you want to achieve a “natural” look, so you don’t look washed out.
3. Even if you never wear color on your lips – this is the time for color! A little pop of color goes a long way in a photo. Lips are best in shades of berries, pinks, or reds.
4. Embrace cheek color! It brightens your complexion, highlights your cheekbones, gives a healthy glow, & avoids that ” too pasty” look you sometimes see in pictures.
5. You want to utilize color to enhance, not overpower your face! Brows, brows, brows! Well-groomed eyebrows are a must. Please do not wax brows or face for 3 days prior to your session
6. Exfoliate with a manual exfoliator the night before your session. It will reduce dry skin patches, minimize the appearance of pores and allow a more even foundation application.
7. The most flattering nail shades for portraits are soft neutrals. Stay away from the trendy bright shades as they draw the emphasis AWAY from the face. A fresh coat of soft pink does wonders…no one likes blue chipped nails next to a pretty face!
8. We suggest having your hair professionally done to ensure your hair has the staying power to endure clothing changes, and the environment.
9. Also, AVOID spray tans! They can blotch the skin and cause uneven skin tones which are not very flattering in pictures.
