The traditional colors of spring are typically bright, or Easter-inspired pastels, but I have found that I love a wider range of palettes. I have been loving more earth toned, spring-inspired hues that pull from nature. This more modern approach looks beautiful in an outdoor family session, and has influenced my most recent additions to my client closet. You may be wondering how to pull off these muted tones, but I have some helpful tips for you to dress in this much more current and modern spring palette:
Try suede or leather, paired with something more lightweight: The texture and tones of suede or even faux leather are interesting and look great in the outdoor settings. This works for both men and women, as men can wear a leather or suede jacket with structure and a great design, and women could wear a moto style jacket with a flower top. Here are some examples of suede or leather colors mixed with other tones, like cream or blush. This keeps it from feeling too drab.
Muted spring colors can be mixed into outfits: When you are choosing something for a spring session, you don’t have to gravitate towards traditional pastels. In fact, using a more muted, earthier hue can look more high-end and be more flattering on many skin tones. Try a mix of mustard yellow, pale blue, or olive green for unique pairings, and add in cream or white accessories to keep it from looking like an autumn outfit.
Navy or dusty blue can be used as an anchor: Whether your blue tones come in the form of blue jeans, or a navy sweater or dress, anyone in your family can rock this tone as a “neutral” like grey or black. It looks less heavy and wintery than black or grey, and you can add a color like rust or cream to keep it looking fresh and youthful.
