When you’re a parent, there’s not much that’s better than the holidays! Watching your children’s eyes light up when they see the Christmas tree, writing letters to Santa, baking cookies…the list of fun things to do with them can go on and on. Maybe you work full time, feel stressed this season, or simply don’t have the motivation to try to build new traditions. We have made a fun list of ideas for you to boost your holiday cheer, and to enjoy the season with your children!
-Countdown to the big day! Make a simple paper chain to count down the days till Christmas…little ones love looking forward to counting off days as they go by. Plus, with a gluestick and some paper, they are a cinch to make yourself.
-Bring cookies to a neighbor: Doing an act of kindness can boost anyone’s spirits! Plus, you don’t have to make it stressful…bring store bought cookies to make it a bit easier on yourself, or choose a very easy recipe that little ones can pitch in with. Pair them with a handwritten note, and make someone’s day!
-Wear Christmas PJ’s and watch a classic movie! A lot of people tend to do this one, but it really is relaxing! Cozy up with a good classic movie (We love The Grinch, Elf, and Miracle on 34th Street, because they are family friendly), and pop some popcorn. Christmas jammies make it even more festive. You could even wrap the pajamas for the very eager little ones.
-Take family photos! Yep, this should definitely make your “to-do” list…and what better place to do family photos than with me? I make it as stress free as possible. You don’t have to do seasonal themed photos, either. You can do neutral photos, but now is a great time because usually family members of kids at college are home. It’s a great time to take advantage of everyone being together, and documenting it will be something priceless.
